On May 6, 2022, we lost our friends, Jeffrey (J.T) and Nelson (Nelly) when they were only 13 and 9 years old. This year on June 7th, Jeffrey would be turning fifteen and Nelson would be turning eleven on October 16th. Jeffrey and Nelson lost their lives to gun violence.
Jeffrey was a terrific kid to all. He always had a way to cheer someone up. J.T., as his friends knew him, always found a way to spread joy to anyone who was in contact with him. Being a kind and supportive person, J.T. supported special needs students at Newtown Middle School. Not only was J.T. a good friend, but also a fantastic athlete. Every time he played sports, he had a smile on his face. J.T. loved baseball, swimming and skiing, and he enjoyed lifting at the NAC with friends. Swimming was one of his best sports. He swam year-round at the Northeast Swim Club and truly excelled at the butterfly. He qualified and participated in the Junior Olympics for multiple years.
Nelson was also cherished by his friends, family and loved ones. He was a happy-go-lucky kid. Everyone loved him in his class, neighborhood and his baseball team. Nelson's favorite sport was baseball. He was a solid ballplayer and took on any position with confidence. Nelson also loved skiing and collecting sneakers. He was truly a kind boy to anyone.
Our community came together after finding out about the deaths of our friends J.T. and Nelly. As their friends, we try to live on in their memory by giving back. Last July, close friends of the brothers planned a Homerun Derby. The donations raised were donated to NOVA ( Network of Victims Assistance). This group helped the students cope at Sol Feinstone Elementary and Newtown Middle School both located in the Council Rock School District.
This year we will be hosting a Swim-A-Thon to raise scholarship funds in remembrance of Jeffrey and Nelson Tini on May 20, 2023, at 9:00 am at Richboro Swim Club at 750 Second Street Pike, Richboro, PA. Please consider participating in this event or submitting a donation in remembrance of the Tini brothers.
